Meet your hosts:- Lisa, Mark, Felicity, Charlotte and Rob

We would like to thank all the riders, those folks that worked like crazy and anyone that just joined for the fun, the support was appreciated. It was an awesome day with great early morning riding weather. The Munnik mist came to greet us and made the race a little cooler than normal!!

This race is presented by members of the Munnik Farmers' Association in collaboration with P&L Cycle Club - the presenters of the Kremetart Cycling Event and the Akkedis Mountain Bike Challenge.

We are very proud to announce that our event is still a qualifier for Limpopo colours.  Only the 35km and 70km race will be used as Limpopo Colours qualifiers and will be timed races.

The 10km is a fun ride, as all rides less than 15km are considered fun rides and can not be seen or used as Provincial or National colours qualifiers.  The 10km will not be a timed race.  Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd for boys and girls under 16.

Objectives of the Race

  • To raise funds for the restoration and development of Munnik Village, thereby creating a wonderful historic railway village.
  • Create employment and empower local communities, through community projects and private enterprise.
  • Create an awareness of the wildlife areas surrounding Munnik.

Munnik Farmers (Pty) Limited is one of the oldest Farmers' Association in South Africa, founded on the 23rd of February 1917. Munnik once supported a busy local farming community, including a railway station, community hall, post office, garage, general dealer, clinic, butchery, sports fields and schools. However, times and technology have changed, most of the cattle farms are now conservation areas, filled with plains game - some even have buffalo.

The tiny village of Munnik needs urgent attention to return to her former glory as the most beautiful railway station in South Africa - an honour bestowed on her in the past. We hope that through the fund-raising of this race and other events hosted by the Munnik community, we will be able to achieve this and help Munnik to become sustainable once more through the development of much needed community projects.
